A well designed garden space, however large or small can be priceless asset to any Dementia Care Home. Rich with appropriate stimuli for all the senses will ensure everyone can enjoy the multitude of benefits fresh air and sunshine will bring.

I posted the above image on Facebook a couple of days ago and perhaps I shouldn't have been surprised to be challenged with "this type of thing is all very well but can residents buy stamps, withdraw money and...." basically do the stuff you'd expect to do in a Post Office?

 

A failing care home's future looked grim as the 70 bed property was assessed as 'requires improvement' in all areas. With an embargo on new admissions and a plethora of additional issues, something significant had to be done to avoid the home being closed.

The BBC published this fabulous and inspiring short story of a friendship that has brought immeasurable benefits to all concerned.

Lurking unnoticed in the corridors of many care homes is a real hazard which should raise significant concern.
